Jack Simpson's training as a stretcher-bearer hasn't prepared him for the horror of the Anzac landing on Gallipoli Peninsula. But when he finds a donkey who has survived being thrown overboard from a ship, the two form a partnership that will become famous. And when the battle is over there is still work for the donkey to do, with his new campanion, New Zealand stretcher-bearer Richard Henderson.
